Empowering futures through apprenticeships

Primary Goal’s apprenticeship training is excellent. Our apprentices are developing into digital champions who actively support colleagues, model effective use of technology, and provide solutions that improve efficiency across the school. This has directly enhanced staff confidence in using digital platforms and improved the digital learning experience for pupils. Liz’s confidence and expertise have grown significantly, and she now plays a central role in shaping our digital learning strategy, directly impacting teaching quality and pupil outcomes.

The support we have received from Primary Goal has been exceptional. From the very beginning, they have taken the time to understand our Trust, our values, and the ambitions behind our wider workforce pledge. That deep understanding has shaped the way they have guided us, ensuring that the apprenticeships offered are not just generic programmes but are genuinely tailored to the needs of our staff and the realities of school life.

For us, this represents of everything that we’ve done in apprenticeship levy transfer, the biggest single transfer that we’ve done to date, £580,000 on one cohort of apprentices who are teachers who are then learning critical digital skills that they can use to instill that culture within the generation that will come into the workforce in the 2030s for our country.

We’re using the digital champions to develop each individual school’s digital strategy, share best practice across the trust, learn from each other so that we can really build and affect our digital strategy through our greatest assets which are our people.

The impact of our staff carrying out an apprenticeship has been huge. It’s been a really positive experience. The knowledge and the experiences that staff have had have been cascaded and shared with other staff and has improved their professional development. It’s also been really useful for other leaders in the school who have had the opportunity to develop and implement other software and technologies to enable them to work in more effective ways.

The support from Primary Goal has been amazing. I have a brilliant tutor who is there at any point I need them. They’re great with advice, when you hand in an assignment they give you feedback on it. It has been a really pleasurable experience to be part of the Digital Champion Apprenticeship Programme.

Through my work on the apprenticeship programme to become a digital champion, I have been able to upskill myself in so many different areas. It’s not just been about improving my use of tech and skills, but it’s also supported me to look at my leadership skills and my wider working skills.
